Reviews...

Very Professional and always willing to go the extra mile to help out a client. I have used them twice. Once to install new carpet and this past July to refinish some hardwood stairs. They are considerate of your time, their product is top quality and their price is fair. I will use them again when needed.

Very Professional

I had a great experience with Floors Etcetera. They refinished my floors, and they did an excellent job—double excellent. I'd recommend them to anybody. It was A-quality work.

Great Experience

I had an absolutely positive experience with them. I would say Floors Etcetera is A+. I've already recommended them.

Already recommended them

It was pretty much effortless for us. They brought samples, measured, and laid 1,500 square feet of carpet. They're an A.

LAMINATE FLOOR MAINTENANCE

LAMINATE FLOORING NO NO’S

  • Don't let sand, dirt or grit build up.

    • These can act like sandpaper and actually abrade and dull your floor finish.

  • Don’t drag or slide heavy furniture or appliances across room.

    • Pick these pieces up to move – even if only a few feet.

  • Don’t walk on your Laminate floors in high heels, cleats, or sports shoes

    • If you must walk in high heels, make sure they are in good repair

  • Don't let your pet's claws go untrimmed.

    • If you have pets in the home, follow our tips for Floor Care With Fur Babies

  • Don't wet mop Laminate floors.

    • Too much water can result in seepage, causing warping, swelling and joint separation.

    • A damp mop can be used if needed

  • Do not use:

    • Oil Soap

    • Soap

    • Steel Wool

    • Abrasive Cleaners

    • Bleach

    • Household Cleaners (including ammoniated or chlorinated products)

    • Wax or Polish (Remember – these are NOT real wood floors!).

Floors Etc. Pro Tip

Only use cleaning products for hard floor surfaces – such as Bona® Pro Hard Surface Floor Cleaner or a cleaner specified by flooring manufacturer.

HOW TO MAINTAIN LAMINATE FLOORS

  • Sweep or vacuum regularly – followed by a recommended laminate safe cleaner

  • Clean liquid spills ASAP

  • Place interior and exterior mats at entrances to trap sand, grit, and other substances.

    • A grain of sand has dozens of sharp edges and can create scratches if tracked across the floor. Be careful of other debris such as small rocks and pebbles being drug across the floor.

  • Use area rugs in front of kitchen sinks and in high traffic areas.

    • Rugs must be made of a breathable material to prevent moisture entrapment.

      • We recommend using a breathable rug underlay; mesh or grid patterns are best.

      • Do not use rugs with solid rubber or vinyl backings as this may damage the finish.

  • Use protective pads or caps, such as Bona® Floor Guards , on feet of furniture. Fix rolling furniture with soft rubber casters.

    • Periodically check the felt tips for wear or buildup of grit/debris and replace as needed.

  • Maintain a consistent humidity level between 35% and 65% throughout the year in all living areas.

    • Excessive swings in humidity levels will cause Laminate floors to swell, shrink, cup, crack and show excessive gaps between boards.

    • The use of humidifier and/or dehumidifier systems is recommended where inconsistent humidity levels occur.

  • Adhere to Manufacturer Warranty and Guidelines

    • Be sure to read any care and maintenance literature provided by the manufacturer because different styles and finishes can each have their own unique guidelines.

      • Floors Etc. will provide you with any product warranties upon completion of your project.

HOW TO SAFELY CLEAN YOUR LAMINATE FLOORS

General Weekly Cleaning

  1. Vacuum or Sweep

    • The best method of removing dirt and grit is vacuuming.

    • If using the Bona® mop to dry mop, remove any loose dirt or grit on the mop afterwards by rinsing with water and wringing out the mop pad.

      • This should be done prior to cleaning floor.

  2. Clean – Lightly mist a 4' x 6' area of your floor or directly mist the cleaning pad on your Bona® mop with Bona® Stone, Tile & Laminate Cleaner and thoroughly clean the floor with the mop.

    • Finish one area before moving on to the next.

    • When the mop pad becomes excessively soiled, launder and/or replace with another clean mop pad.

      • Continued use of excessively soiled pads may cause streaking.

    • Your Bona® mop pads are reusable and washable.

      • Do not use any fabric softeners, dryer sheets or bleach on your Bona® mop pads as these products will diminish the natural cleaning characteristics of the microfiber.

Floors Etc. Pro Tip

When vacuuming, only use brush or felt heads – never use the beater bars as they can damage your laminate floors.

For Spills and Messes

  • Clean up liquid spills ASAP to avoid it seeping in the seams (known as seepage).

  • Mist the area with cleaner, and wipe with your Bona® Pro Hardwood Floor Mop or a clean, soft cloth.

  • Laminates are highly resistant to stains. However. if a stain remover is needed – follow Manufacturer Warranty and Care Guidelines.
