Founded in 1992 by Sandra Burnett and Danny Krienke, Floors Etc. was not planned, but, as some would say, it was meant to be. The company was the brainchild of Sandra Burnett, who was looking for the perfect flooring company to care for beautiful solid hardwood floors, and, when her search proved more difficult than it should have been, she created a business opportunity.
Sandra Burnett: A favorite among Houston designers and homeowners
Sandra searched for months for the just right hardwood floor expert for her home in Tanglewood – and then she met Danny, an exceptionally talented craftsman and artisan with a lifetime of hands-on experience. Being a smart businesswoman with a personal passion for interiors and high-end design, Sandra knew that meeting Danny was a rare opportunity extending far beyond the scope of her floors. Floors Etc. was soon established, and Houston was gifted with an unparalleled flooring resource – and over time the ETC would set them apart: Experienced. Trusted. Craftsmanship.
Danny Krienke: Houston’s go-to hardwood expert
Danny Krienke didn’t choose fine hardwood flooring as a career – he was born into it. He learned everything he knows and practices today from one of Houston’s then most respected, master wood craftsman – a man he called, “Dad.” Very few people in the industry today learned their craft from passionate, old school artisans, and even fewer can match Danny’s talent, knowledge and decades of experience. Danny’s Dad began taking his son to job-sites when he was only 4 years old. And for more than 50 years, Danny has been honing his talents, skills, and knowledge to become Houston’s foremost hardwood artisan. His passion and ‘feel’ for more than 30 wood species used in hardwood flooring today is unmatched in Houston.
Danny and Sandra have worked side by side since 1992 as partners – learning from each other. As an owner, Danny no longer installs the floors as he is a face of the company, and Sandra is now considered an expert in all matters of floors – the only thing she doesn’t do is install the floor herself (but if push came to shove, she probably could!). Together they make our company strong by remaining focused on the Floors Etc. mission:
to create beautiful new or refinished floors while providing exceptional client experiences
ETC: Experienced | Trusted | Craftsmanship
This means meeting new clients; managing the showroom; having the right materials available; keeping their crews on task and the business office running smoothly; and all the other etcs.
Floors Etc. provides our clients with the best of both worlds – Danny’s outstanding creativity and craftsmanship and Sandra’s proven business experience and dedication to customer service and satisfaction.
To maintain the excellence established by Sandra and Danny over their many years of service, Sandra’s daughter, Tracy Burnett, is now closely involved in the daily affairs of Floors Etc. Tracy brings to the table what she has learned over the years from her mom and Danny along with her own experience from many years of executive leadership, marketing and sales.
“People typically think of floors as just a functional necessity or a commodity product.
I see them as a statement of style –think of them as art you can walk on.”
-Tracy Burnett, Floors Etc. General Manager
